Crofton Middle School PTO Presents The Music Man

The Music Man, the feel-good American musical classic, takes center stage at Crofton Middle School during the annual spring production presented by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization.

The show features Timmy Kandra who plays Harold Hill, the slick salesman who swoops in to River City, Iowa with a plan to scam the townspeople, but instead brings them the joy of music. Bronte Cook has the role of his love interest, Marian the librarian. Marian’s shy younger brother is portrayed by Will Schoeller, and her mother, Mrs. Paroo, by Cora Haas. Colin Parlett is Charlie Cowell, a rival salesman who drops in on the town trying to expose Harold’s devious motives. Paul Tortora plays Marcellus Washburn, Harold’s old friend. Warren Baltimore is the town’s resolute Mayor Shinn and Colleen Roy plays his wacky wife. Jenna Small takes on the part of sweet young Amaryllis.

They lead a group of more than 100 students who are taking part in the production as cast and crew. The show boasts many major musical dance production numbers performed by a large ensemble. The PTO welcomes back Vicki Smith as director and choreographer and Sean Lane as the show’s musical director. The team has been working since the fall on the play, which is always a spring highlight in the Crofton community. Many local businesses have contributed to the show effort with program ads, donations, and other sponsorships.

The musical, staged at Crofton Middle School, 2301 Davidsonville Road, Crofton, runs from March 8-17, 2013, with 7pm performances on Fridays and Saturdays and 2pm matinees on Sundays. Tickets are date-specific and seating is reserved.
