A 11-year-old boy and 48-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries from the crash on Governor Bridge Road on Wednesday morning.
UPDATE (2:50 p.m. Thursday)—Two people suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash on Governor Bridge Road in Davidsonville on Wednesday morning.
Capt. Mike Pfaltzgraff of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said paramedics responded to a report of a crash 7:35 a.m. Wednesday at the 1400 block of Governor Bridge Road, and found a single car that had crashed into a tree. Pfaltzgraff said two people were trapped in the car and it took about 15 minutes to extricate them.
Anne Arundel County police said both occupants had potential life-threatening injuries and were transported by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center for treatment. As of Thursday, police said both were in critical but stable condition.
A police investigation "determined the vehicle was traveling east on Governor Bridge Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, began to rotate in a counterclockwise direction and slid sideways off the roadway, striking a fence and ultimately a tree," according to a press release.
Police said speed may have contributed to this crash, and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors. The investigation is ongoing.
