The band came out on top on the Division 3 Open competition at Towson University. It will head to a national competition New York on Saturday.

The Arundel High School marching band earned top honors Saturday at a statewide competition held at Towson University.

The band won the Group 3 Open title at the USBands Maryland State Championships, beating out four other schools. Judges awarded the band 90.512 points, more than a full point more than second place Northwest High.

The band also won the awards for Best Visual and Best Effect.

Saturday's title marked continued improvement for the band, which finished in second place in a US Bands competition at Severna Park High on Oct. 27.

This Saturday, it will take part in the USBands National Competition at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
