Bowie Bed Bath & Beyond Moving to Gambrills

After 10 years at the Bowie Town Center, Bed Bath & Beyond will relocate to the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre this fall.

Local shoppers looking for Egyptian cotton sheets or the latest in kitchen gadgetry will be in luck starting this fall.

Bed Bath & Beyond, currently located in the Bowie Town Center, is relocating to a new building in Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills in a few short months. The company has no plans to open another store in Bowie anytime soon.

“We don't plan to have stores in both Crofton and Bowie as the new store location is part of our long-term plans to best serve the market,” Bed Bath & Beyond Marketing Assistant Danielle Sherman wrote in an email to Patch.

Are you glad to see Bed Bath & Beyond head to Waugh Chapel? Will you shop there more often once the store is closer? Tell us in the comments.

I am happy to have BB&B closer but sad to see the older shopping centers dry up and become vacant....I sure hope they survive this overbuilding of our area...we all will suffer if they do not survive.

I live in Upper Marlboro and will not drive all the way to Crofton. I will go to Target first.

I will not shop at BB&B at Waugh Chapel/AA County because it will weaken the economy in Bowie and ultimately PG county. I will find an alternative in Bowie and/or PG County. This mass exodus looks very familiar. Please be aware, support, and advocate for the growth of Bowie's economy.

Definitely! Bowie Towne Centre has been a nightmare since the day it opened!

I live in Bowie and went to the BB&B at Waugh Chapel in AA county Wednesday evening. I had to see this new and improved BB&B. The store size seems about the same...the merchandice the same. I fail to see what is so special about the new location. I grew up in Prince George's county and I believe in supporting our businesses. I will not shop at the new BB&B in Crofton.

I was avid shopper at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Now that they've moved they've lost me as a customer. I will spend my money at stores in my community where the money comes back and STAYS in my community. Kudos to everyone else who does the same.

I have shopped at the Bowie Town Center for years. I like the layout, the easy traffic access. I think it's shameful that these businesses are leaving. Bowie has given them business for 10 years, and now the first sign of a new glitzy location in AA county, they abandon the community that has patronized them for years. I will not travel to the new location in Crofton. The traffic up there is a mess. The shopping complex is entirely too big, with all of the parking in the center, making it a monstrosity. I will support Bowie businesses. And if I can't find it in Bowie, I'll order it from an independent merchant online. I'm tired of these big box chains using communities by overdeveloping our green spaces and then ultimately abandoning us and leaving empty buildings. The right thing to do would have been for a smaller scale shopping center in Crofton. Why do *all* of the stores have to relocate there? BBB, Old Navy, Bubbles is planning to move. It's ridiculous. Not to mention, Route 3 was not designed for that kind of traffic. At least the Bowie Town Center has a couple of different access points, so not all traffic has to enter from 197. I think it's time we get together and advocate for some new stores, perhaps a Trader Joes (which I like better than Wegmans anyway), maybe a fitness studio, perhaps some eclectic independently owned shops or, heck, I'll even settle for some interesting chains. I'm fed up with Old Navy and BBB anyhow.
