Board of Ed to Examine Crofton School Additions

Crofton Middle and Crofton Meadows Elementary may get significant additional classroom space.

The Anne Arundel County Board of Education is set to review and vote on design documents for classroom additions at Crofton Middle and Crofton Meadows Elementary with a combined cost of $10.2 million.

School board officials are scheduled to discuss the plan at their meeting Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Annapolis.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools reported in a press release that the 12-classroom addition at Crofton Middle will cost about $7 million and is slated to be completed around 2014. The addition would relieve overcrowding at the school, which has a capacity of 1,019 but an enrollment of 1,150, according to the release.

Crofton Meadows Elementary could get six additional rooms for its kindergarten and prekindergarten classes, also expected to be completed in 2014, according to the school system. The total project costs about $3.2 million, according to the release.

The school system has also begun examining redistricting ideas for the Crofton schools to help with enrollment issues.

So let me see if I got this straight , Severna Park Middle School gets a 55 million dollar make over including flat screen TV's in the cafeteria and all the board can come up with for Crofton is 7 million to add a few class rooms.
This totally sucks--in this county there are the haves and there are the have nots.
We are the have nots.

Have you been to Pioneer City? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Crofton has a few more resources.
