Are you looking for the best thing since sliced bread on a couple pieces of bread?
Patch local editors complied a list of sandwich shops around our area. But there has to be more places to score a super sandwich.
Sometimes you just want a great Italian deli sandwich. If you're around Crofton, you'll want to stop by Vince's Deli and Catering. They serve authentic American and Italian deli sandwiches. Plus, they offer sandwich platters for every occasion along with fruit platters; vegetable, cheese, rolled meat and cheese, and dessert trays.
Everyone knows the best place for hot, heaping sandwiches is the family-owned Expressway Pit Beef on Piney Orchard Parkway. There's pit beef, pit ham, plus awesome barbecue chicken and other mouth-watering favorites. Don't forget to order with a side of their great mashed potatoes or mac and cheese. They are normally closed on Sundays, but will be open for the Super Bowl.
The Davidsonville Country store is one of those old-time crossroads kind of places where you always run into someone you know. It's a place to go for gas or to pick up milk or bread on the way home. But those in the know also go there to get a great sandwich. They have soups and pizza, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, breakfast items and a bakery. Their portions are generous and everything tastes like it was made seconds ago (it was). If you're running late for work one morning, stop in for an egg sandwich ($1.59). Vegetarian sandwiches like the Homestead (Havarti cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrots, avocado and honey mustard dressing) for $5.89 are delicious and filling. Don't even get me started on Frannie's pies. Stop by, they're open 6 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends.
Sammy’s Deli sandwich shop is close to City Dock in downtown Annapolis and is tough to beat for sandwiches. But make sure you're hungry because they are certainly made with a hefty appetite in mind.
