Plans Underway for Crofton Night Out Against Crime
The local event, which is part of a national effort, will take place next month.
Mark your calendars and consider volunteering for the annual Crofton Night Out Against Crime to be held 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 in the parking lot at the Crofton Library.
Last year, more than 350 people attended the free event to celebrate making the community a safer place. The event will feature police and fire vehicles, police K-9 demonstrations, live music, children's activities and a clown and refreshments.
Volunteers are needed to help with the setup, cleaning up after the event and donations of giveaways or your talent (face-painting, magic, children’s arts and crafts, etc.).
According to a press release, this local event is part of the National Night Out Against Crime sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is designed to:
• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
• Generate support for, and participation in, local crime prevention programs.
• Strengthen community spirit and police-community
partnerships.
