Q&A: Crofton Middle 'Music Man' Star Kailey Anderson
Kailey Anderson, 13, plays Gracie Shinn in Crofton Middle School's presentation of "The Music Man."
Eighth-grader Kailey Anderson, spoke with Patch about the show and why you should make sure you have tickets.
Crofton Patch: What is your character or role in the production?
Kailey Anderson: I am Gracie Shinn, the mayor's youngest daughter.
Crofton Patch: What is your favorite part of the show or why should people come see it?
Kailey: My favorite song is "Wells Fargo Wagon." It's one of the songs we have been working on for the longest and I actually have a speaking part in the scene before Wells Fargo. I really encourage that people of all ages come see the play. They should because even if they don't understand it, it's so much to watch—just the costumes and movements put on a great show. We have been hard at work too for almost 4 months. I can't wait till opening night.
Crofton Patch: What is your favorite show or musical you have ever seen or heard performed?
Kailey: One of my favorite movies is the Wizard of Oz and I would really like to see the musical for it or even the musical Wicked.
Crofton Patch: What do you like to do besides performing?
Kailey: Besides performing I like to dance, sing, play the keyboard and work with kids. I teach [Vacation Bible School] every year and I work summer camps and the Renaissance Festival with Chelonia Eco Adventures.
Crofton Patch: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Kailey: I haven't really quite decided what I want to do when I'm older but I am positive that I want to do something with kids. I love putting smiles on children's faces and that's one of the reasons I perform.
"The Music Man" will run March 8-10 and then March 15-17 at Crofton Middle. Those interested in purchasing tickets can do so by emailing CMStickets@gmail.com. Tickets are $7 a person.
