The weather is hopefully starting to cool off, and we can put the sweltering summer behind is soon. I hope it's a good week for you. Here are a few of the newsy events we're keeping an eye on this week.

Greater Crofton Council Meeting
When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Where: Waugh Chapel Community Center
Details: Patric Enright of the Anne Arundel County Charter Commission will be the guest. He'll talk about the laundry list of charter amendments that will be up for a vote on the November ballot.
County School Board Budget Workshop
When: Tuesday, 6 p.m.
Where: 2644 Riva Rd., Annapolis
Details: The school board will delve into the nitty gritty of the superintendent's proposed budget for fiscal year 2014. The public hearing on the budget is set for Sept. 19.
When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Arundel High School.
Details: The Wildcats thumped Northeast 55-0 last week, and look for a 3-0 start when they host Meade.
Old Mill Football at North County
When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: North County High School
Details: The Patriots had a bit of a test last week against Severna Park, but emerged with a 20-14 win in overtime. The team will likely have an easier time against the Knights up in Glen Burnie.
