The Week Ahead: Budgets, Volleyball and Democrats

Here's a look at what's going on this week in Odenton and Severn.

 

Well, we got through the superstorm known as Sandy, and we also elected a president. But the news continues on with some key events and meetings this week. 

Here's are five things happening this week worth following. 

Piney Orchard Community Association Meeting

When: Monday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Piney Orchard Community Center
Details: The community's board of directors will consider and vote on the adoption of the fiscal budget for 2013. A copy of the budget is available at pineyorchard.com.

Western District Police-Community Relations Council

When: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Western District Police Station, 8723 Telegraph Rd., Odenton 
Details: The police-community relations council will hold its November meeting. Get the latest from the district commanders on crime and safety issues entering into the holiday season.

33rd District Democrats Meeting
When: Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Perry's Restaurant, Odenton
Details: Dr. Dan Nataf of Anne Arundel County Community College will present an overview of the political scene in 2012 and a look ahead to 2014.

Fort Meade Restoration Advisory Board Meeting
When: Thursday, 7 p.m.
Where: Capt. John E. Smathers U.S. Army Reserve Center, between 20 1/2 and 21st streets, Annapolis Road.
Details: The Fort Meade RAB will get an update on environmental problems at and near the installation, including a review of new projets for 2013.  

Arundel Volleyball in State Semifinal
When: Thursday, 8 p.m.
Where: Ritchie Coliseum, College Park
Details: The Wildcats return for their third straight appearance in the state final four, and take on Eleanor Roosevelt High. Both teams are unbeaten on the year.
