Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Anne Arundel County

The National Weather Service predicts a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

It wasn't a white Christmas, but snow started falling around Anne Arundel County on Wednesday.

The county is under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service (NWS) until 1 p.m.

"A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties," according to the release. "Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities."

NWS stated that people should expect a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Forecasters predict that a mix of freezing rain and sleet will continue throughout the afternoon.

The advisory extends to Northern Baltimore, Harford, Montgomery, Howard and Prince Georges counties.

Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) asked motorists to keep their speeds down and to "exercise extreme caution."

People traveling toward western Maryland and points further west should expect higher amounts of snow and should plan accordingly due to winter storm Euclid.
