Places to Go (and Not Go) Near Anne Arundel County
Don't judge it from the outside... The Orchard Cafe in Odenton surprised me with a very good breakfast, not to mention a very good price tag. Egg platter with 3 eggs, toast and four pieces of sausage along with oatmeal was maybe $6. You may get blinded from the photographs they have taken of their customers (that completely cover their walls), but you will walk out with a full stomach and full wallet. I appreciated the customer service and the love they show by utilizing the families in the community as their decor.
Chili's in Bowie... Not so good.. We didn't even get a chance to sit down before our party of six was shoo'ed away by the overwhelmed waitress who told us when we walked in, "You're just going to have to wait a minute, I am working the entire bar area." We figured we would save her the anguish and leave. If she was overwhelmed at 3 p.m. on a Saturday, I would hate to see what happens at 6 p.m. on a Saturday...

Hunan L'Rose is a must! But then again so is Grace Garden for good Chinese.

I agree on the Hunan L'Rose being a must! I can't speak for Grace Garden but Hunan L'Rose is very good, and the service has always been more than excellent for my many visits. Your water glass will never go dry.

@Ronald 1131 Annapolis Road Odenton, MD 21113 across the street from McD's & the new mexican restaurant. Its fantastic. I like everything from the sizzling rice soup to crab rangoon to the schezwan shrimp.

Tammy, you are spot on with the Orchard Cafe - Value and service there can't be beat. Suggestion -- check out Allison's on 2207 Defense Hwy in Crofton and let us know what you think. It's another one that you can't judge from the location or outside, but owners Bill and Jim Hamrock have the culinary chops to deliver a consistently good experience every time we go.

Allison's is one of my favorite local restaurants. Seriously good food. I've never been disappointed. If fried green tomatoes are a special, you have to get them!

Thanks Tim. As much as I like both Michael and Karen at Perry's, I have to agree with many of the nominators that Grace at Allison's is the best bartender around - what a sweetheart. She got my vote. Sorry to see that no one nominated Allison's for best wine list, though, because even if it is not that long, it has some solid selections that pair very well with their good food.

so glad you are doing this in the area. so many new places and people it is hard to figure out where and what to eat. tammy i would like to envite to to my store at 1582 Annapolis rd . i am sure you are not aware that this area has a unique grocery store" international".. monday aug 6 i will be srving some of the foods from Jamaica due to the celebration of our Independace. you are welcome to "Come Take A Look" and make your sugestion of this caribbean business....... *** Not no way associated with Troy's restaurant****.

also there is a new Soul Food restaurant " the Main Course" on Annapolis road near cluck u chicken. the place is huge, very clean and great staff. i really like the atmosphere. have you also been to this place? please put on your list also.
