Chick-fil-A Helps Collect School Supplies for Students in Need

The Waugh Chapel restaurant will donate a percentage of sales on Monday, July 22, to the cause.

While most families groan about buying school supplies because they don't want summer to end, there are some who simply can't afford to buy the necessary items.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, along with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, helps more than 4,500 children get the supplies they need, according to their website. To promote this effort, the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Waugh Chapel is collecting school supplies and donating money to the county's Back-to-School Program.

Chick-fil-A will donate a percentage of sales on Monday, July 22, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to the cause.

In addition, the restaurant will host its “Stuff the Bus” event from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 3 to collect items for local students in need.  The community can bring donations to the Aug. 3 event, or drop them off at the following collection points:

  • Vuong’s Martial Arts and Fitness Center
  • Rolly Pollies
  • Liberty Tax Service
  • State Farm Insurance
  • Old Line Bank
  • First National Bank
  • PNC Bank
  • The Family Bike Shop
The MOMS Club of Crofton will organize the supplies and pack backpacks for children with exactly what they need for school, according to a press release.
