CRCC News and Notes 11/15/11

News from the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC).

The weather cooperated, people came, and the Book Lovers Auction and Free Children's Festival, and Antique Car Show, went off without a hitch. Well, almost. It was a bit chilly and it got dark earlier than we would have liked, but no one complained.

, co-owner of the was seen scurrying around with a big grin on his face as he made the Children's Festival so much fun, as well as all the other arrangements. This was all his idea and he put a large amount of time and money into making it the success it was. Face painter Tara Janowski did exceptional work as a face painter and we had many a colorful face with a happy smile. Prizes of colorful books and stuffed animals were given out to every child attending and the children had loads of fun. Let's all applaud Brian McCann for producing all this and more.

The antique car show people were more than generous to the CRCC as the car show attracted many people in itself and the people involved contributed back to the CRCC. Awards and trophies were given out to participants and everyone appeared to have a great time. Those cars were awesome!

Then there was the Book Lovers Auction which proved to be a big success as well. The entire group of 16 authors all want to return next year. People loved meeting them and socializing. There were so many books involved that we ran out of room to display them all, but many were sold.

One special surprise was the jump-roping demonstration given by Kate Weidman, the daughter of author Kate Dolan and a Junior Olympic Champion.  She also co-wrote a book with Kate. I never saw jump-roping like that in my life!
