CRCC News and Notes 9/20/11

News from the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC).

Hoping for good weather, the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC) will have a table at the Crofton Arts and Crafts Fair this Saturday. We're all enthused about our appearance at this popular semi-annual event. Look for us at the north end of the Crofton Country Club's parking lot. We'll be selling raffle tickets for e-readers, whose drawings will take place at the Book Lovers Auction in November, amongst many other things. There's a long list of things going on at the CRCC table, so please stop and say hello and look at all that's offered.

More information about The Greater Crofton Community Awards Banquet taking place on November 4 at the Crofton Country Club. Tickets for this exciting event can be purchased from any members of the organizations taking part in this, or by calling Judy Wilson at 410-721-9131. The groups giving out awards to their Citizens of the Year are:

Flyers have gone out for the photo Session offer from Linda McCarthy, of  Visual Concepts. With each $50 donation to the CRCC, a free photo session is given by Linda at her studio in Davidsonville. The donor gets a free 11-by-14 photo, plus special pricing on various group offers, such as Holiday cards. Also, each person is included in a drawing for a free 24-by-30 canvas wall photo that will take place at the CRCC Sweethearts Gala on February 16. Winners need not be present at the drawing. For more information, or to make an appointment, call Linda McCarthy at 410-626-7474 or email Linda at linda@visualconceptsltd.com.

The CRCC apologizes for the lack of a working web site, but they continue to search for someone to handle it and progress is being made.

The latest addition of another author attending the Book Lovers Auction on Nov. 12 brings the count to 19 authors now. For the  discount price of $5 a reserved ticket, people can enjoy the food and drink as well as the socializing, meeting the authors, bidding on thousands of books, getting free books as they leave and a chance to win a door prize. Raffles on 3 different e-readers will be held and there will be many surprises and treats.

Meanwhile, outside, a Free Children's Festival is being planned with a clown, face-painting, games and many prizes, not to mention many other surprises. Rain or shine, but we hope for good weather. As if all this isn't enough, an antique car show will be held at the same time and location. Between 4 and 7 pm on that same Saturday, this will be the place to be and there will be something for everyone! After the first 50 tickets are sold, the admittance price will rise to $10 so call early and reserve your discounted ticket price. Call Rev. Shawn Gegede at 443-302-9598 to reserve your ticket while the price is still reduced.

Impressive Products will also be supporting the CRCC with a Make Your Own Button station for the kids. Donations of $1 (or more) will go to CRCC.

Circle your calendars for Feb. 16, 2012. That's the date of the 2nd Annual Sweethearts Ball. And do the same for the next general meeting of the CRCC on Oct. 27.
