CRCC News and Notes 8/22/11

News from the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC).

With many Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC) members on vacation this month, news is skimpy this week. It's a small respite, for future planning is always continuing behind the scenes. At the August 2 Night Out Against Crime table, many people were curious about the design of the future community center and stopped to see the picture of it as well as to talk. Many signed up to receive further news and some specifically volunteered. The give-a-ways the CRCC gave out were a big hit. Support for the community center continues to grow and the mailing list has lengthened a good deal recently.

We CRCC members are gearing up for the September appearance at the Crofton Arts and Crafts Fair on Sept. 24. Every year the CRCC tries to outdo itself and this year is no exception. We have big plans to please the crowd.

Who will be the CRCC Citizen of the Year on November 4 at the Crofton Community Awards banquet? Try and be at the Crofton Country Club for this event. More news to follow.

Last year's Book Lovers Auction was loved by all who attended and everyone wanted to return this year. So far, 18 authors will be there in person with their books. But particular attention has been paid this year to offer books of every genre that could be thought of. Many cook books, children's books, young adult books, non-fiction and much more have been added this year. There are audio books, some CD's and a vast assortment of miscellaneous items as well. For the price of $5, people can enjoy a lovely 3 hours, sip a drink and nibble on food items as they look around. It's all so exciting, but beyond this - there's the Free Children's Festival taking place outside. All children will be supervised as they play games, enjoy beverages and win an assortment of prizes. No one will be left out. What's there not to like? Call Rev. Shawn Jegede at 443-302-9598 for the special $5 price.

Last years Sweetheart's Gala was a huge success despite the fires nearby in the fields and, consequently, the lack of electricity, but this year's gala promises to be even bigger and better. All volunteers and CRCC members are searching for auction items already. If you can help in any way, please call John Hollywood at 301-897-1462.
