CRCC News and Notes 9/07/11

News from the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC).

A new fundraiser for the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC) has been announced and flyers will soon be out. Linda McCarthy of Visual Concepts is on the CRCC Board of Directors, the CRCC official photographer now. Linda is offering a free family photo session for every $50 donation someone makes to the CRCC. This photo session will take place at her studio , a farmhouse in Davidsonville. The photo session includes a complimentary 11X14 photo, special package pricings that include holiday cards, and a chance to win a 24X30 canvas wall photo (winner to be announced at the CRCC Sweethearts Gala on February 16, 2012). These photo sessions must occur before the end of the year.

The $50 donation required for this should be a check made out to CRCC or thru the CRCC web site and PayPal. This would be a non-profit, tax-free donation to help build a community center in Crofton. The family photo session is for immediate family only and can include up to 8 people, as well as family pets. To book your session, call Linda at 410-626-7474 or e-mail her at linda@visualconceptsltd.com.

A webmaster is still needed for the CRCC web site. The responsibility for this is to fill in all news and upcoming events as they are given to you.

Anyone desiring a CRCC newsletter can find them at the Crofton Library or Town Hall and if you want to be on the mailing list for each newsletter, you can call me at 410-793-3896 or email me at doyle1718@comcast.net. The next newsletter (Edition 3) will come out in October, but there are still some Edition 2 newsletters left. The newsletter gives details of upcoming events, contact names and numbers of all CRCC executive board members, as well as featuring a salute to a business that has contributed greatly to the CRCC.

Preparations are underway for the CRCC appearance at the annual Crofton Arts and Crafts Fair on Sept. 24. Raffle tickets will be sold on a few special items, including e-readers which will be drawn at the Nov. 12 Book Lovers Auction. There will be many items given away, including balloons, at the table, and information on the CRCC, with a conceptional drawing of the community center. (The final version be available in mid-October.) People will be at the table to answer all questions and write down volunteer names and those wanting to go on the mailing list.

Excitement builds for the Greater Crofton Community Awards Banquet at the Crofton Country Club on Nov. 4. The CRCC will be just one of many organizations giving out awards to their Citizen of the Year. Tickets will be on sale for this soon.

The list just keeps growing for authors attending the Book Lovers Auction on Nov. 12. So far, there are 20 writers who will attend in person with their books. The time is 4-7 pm. The special price of $5 a ticket for the first 50 who reserve a ticket, and $10 thereafter, will include a chance to bid on hundreds of books as well as converse with any or all of the authors,  as well as to sip a drink or nibble on the food treats. In addition to these offerings, a drawing will be held on the raffles of several e-readers at the end of the day and, as people leave, they may select from any of the free books by the door. Oh yes, one more thing - free door prizes of gift cards to stores where books are sold. Buy early for Christmas, help the community center get built, and have a whole lot of fun!

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate, but, rain or shine, there will occur outside in the parking lot at this time, a free Children's Festival. Under  supervision, games will be played and prizes given out to all. There will be many things to entertain the children while the parents are inside

To take advantage of the reduced price of admission for the Book Lovers Auction, call Rev. Shawn Jegede at 443-302-9598.

For the Feb. 16 Sweethearts Gala, everyone is assured of a special evening and donations for auction items are being sought now.  Call John Hollywood if you can help at 301-897-1462.
