CRCC Prepares for Crofton Night Out Against Crime

The Crofton Regional Community Center offers insight into upcoming events around our community.

The Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC) is working with the county to present a very special Night Out Against Crime on August 2 from 5-8 pm at the Crofton Library parking lot. A big turnout is expected and there will be help with the parking. Everything is free on this night with numerous things to enjoy. It's sure to be a night of fun for all families.

DJ Doug Quinn  will provide music all evening. There will be face painting, a clown, and numerous other activities and a big highlight will be a skate demo for everyone to enjoy. All food and beverages are free. There will also be fun give-a-ways for the children. A K 9 demo is slated and both police and firemen will be present to inform and help people. Everyone is encouraged to come out and have a good time. Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in volunteering their talents, or would like to be a part of the setting up and clean up, they should contact Joan Leddy at 410-222-1527 or send an email to jlkeddy@aacounty.org. National Night Out Against Crime is a national observance sponsored by Target.

General Meeting July 27

The CRCC will be holding their general meeting - a meeting open to the public and held on July 27 at Fusia Restaurant. Fusia is located in the shopping center that includes K-Mart. The actual meeting begins at 7 pm, but those who would like to have dinner should arrive at 6:30 to place their orders. A percentage of all orders this night go to the CRCC. People should know that they don't have to sit through a meeting, but can help the CRCC just by buying a dinner that evening and presenting a flyer, which will be available at the door. They can also use Fusia's carry-out service and present a flyer. By attending this meeting, people have a chance to express their thoughts and ask questions. The unveiling of the first cut of the architect's rendition of the future community center will be a highlight of the meeting.

Although all of the CRCC members remain busy behind the scenes doing many things, the next public appearance after this summer will be at the Crofton Arts and Crafts Fair on September 24. They will have a table at the Fair and present a number of surprises.

Auction and Festival

The Book Lovers Auction & Free Children's Festival takes most of the year to plan. Each year I start preparing for it in February and by the November 12 date, all should be in order. So far, have collected over 400 books and other items and more are still coming. Two publishing companies are sending 4 boxes apiece and many authors are waiting for the Fall release of their latest books to sign and send out. I'm very excited over this year's event with the addition of more authors to be there in person as well as the addition of greater door prizes and the raffling of a number of special items, including e-readers (like a Kindle).

The Children's Free Festival is a huge event in itself. This promises to be very special with many activities and give-a-ways as well as free refreshments. The children will be well supervised and everything is free. The time is 4-7 pm on a Saturday. Tickets for the Book Auction are $5 for the first 50 people to call Pastor Shawn Jegede at 443-302-9598 and the price will be $10 after that. Refreshments are included in the ticket price. This is planned to help with your early Christmas shopping as well as to simply have a great time and get some terrific bargains.
