CRCC Vice-Chairman Resigns

Crofton Regional Community Center Vice-Chairman Art Huseonica resigns after three years helping to found the group dedicated to bringing a community center and skate park to Crofton.

Art Huseonica has dedicated the last three years to helping form the Crofton Regional Community Center (CRCC) board. Wednesday night he officially resigned from his position as vice-chairman of the organization.

"Under the leadership of Sen. Janet Greenip, I've been humbled to have worked with such a group of passionate citizens who only want to see good things happen to the greater Crofton area," he said.

Huseonica was among the four Croftonites who came together in 2008 to form the group dedicated to bringing a community center and skate park to Crofton. Former State Sen. Janet Greenip, Steve Grimaud and John Hollywood were part of the quartet.

Last week the CRCC announced plans for a $5,000 feasibility study for the proposed 32,000-square foot building off Davidsonville Road. The research will evaluate the terrain, underground pipes, infrastructure, stormwater runoff and treatment.

Huseonica said 2011 is an ideal time to step away from the organization.

"The hard work is now done and the CRCC can focus on fundraising as more residents, civic organizations, church groups, schools and businesses are stepping forward to make a positive impact in our community," said Huseonica.

CRCC Chairman Janet Greenip responded to Huseonica’s resignation in a release.

"Art has worked hard for the CRCC and deserves time off and we wish him lots of joy and luck in his future pursuits, but he will be a hard man to replace," said Greenip.

Huseonica said he plans to use this time off to spend quality time with his wife and 26-year-old son Patrick.
