Living Earth Festival at American Indian Museum
When/Where: American Indian Museum, Washington DC. Saturday, July 23, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 24, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Why Go: Celebrate the Earth and the contributions of indigenous tribes to the environment and its sustainability. An outdoor farmer's market will feature American Indian chefs in Iron Chef style cookoffs. You can also participate in hands-on activities in traditional crafts like weaving and making pottery.

Batty about Bats
Where/When: Patuxent Research Refuge, Laurel. Saturday, July 23, 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Most people are creeped out by bats, but they shouldn't be. Bats are cute as buttons, and play a major role in the food chain. Learn about local bats, and the environmental threats they face in this informative session. Registration required.
Price: Free, but donations accepted.


The Marvelous Wonderettes
Where/When: Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre, Annapolis. Saturday, July 23, 8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Nostalgic for the 50s and 60s when summer dresses and crinoline skirts ruled, and the sounds of harmonizing voices and snapping fingers seemed like they would go on forever? Look no further than this homegrown production chronicling the successes of four young singers who were thrust onto the stage as sudden replacements for a boy band. For ages 5 and above, under parental discretion. Under 5 not admitted.

Sunday Sunset Concert Series
Where/When: Allen Pond Park, Bowie. Sunday, July 24, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Why Go: Wind down with the family, experience community camaraderie at an outdoor concert. Canceled in case of inclement weather.

Why Go: Boat rides, poetry readings, and a magic show. Enjoy the best of summer while it lasts.
