Gas Pump Price Patrol

A surge in gas prices have some drivers fuming at the fuel pump.

More than 1,611,875 joined a Facebook group vowing to not buy gas Thursday. The group urges drivers to, “Simply avoid all gas stations on March 31, 2011. And if you can go one step further, don't even drive that day.”

Monday night Crofton and Gambrills gas prices along Route 3 hovered around $3.49/gallon for regular grade.

AAA reports the average cost for regular gas around Maryland is $3.571.

So how are Crofton residents saving a grip at the pump?

Leanne Saviske Miller said she uses grocery store discounts.

“The Giant Bonus Card/Shell Deal! I saved $1.70 per gallon last week!” said the Crofton driver.

Shannon Gormley said family connections help her get good gas deals.

“I scam my grandfather by using his phone number for Safeway gas points in Edgewater,” said the Crofton consumer.
