Did you know January is GO (Get Organized) month? That's the claim of professional organizer and blogger Nettie Owens who offers a starting point for those who aren't sure how to begin.
"All this talk about resolutions has got me thinking about that one I hear the most, 'I resolve to ‘Get Organized’ this year.' But what does it mean?" wrote Owens in her latest post in the Sappari Solutions blog.
Owens discussed in her blog how being "organized" means different things to people and it can often feel overwhelming.
"Write down the steps that you will need to take to get organized and then drill down to the smallest possible step you can take to get started."
Here are six steps Owens recommends for general organizing:
Remove trash and recyclables
Donate items in good condition not being used
Work on each space for 15 minutes a day
Work through each room of the house
Participate in a Clutter Challenge (Mins Game)
Gather like items together
If all else fails and you can only manage to accomplish one small thing: "Find one item to remove and get it out!"Click here for more tips from Owens or to find information about her workshops on clutter offered in Harford County.
