Goodwill Store Grand Opening Wednesday

Goodwill Store To Celebrate New Location Wednesday

Where in Crofton can you buy an Eddie Bauer Pack-n-Play, a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans, an Under Armor shirt and a pair of Nikes all for under $50?

Now you can at the Goodwill Industries store in Crofton Center Shopping Center next to Shopper's Food Warehouse. Goodwill stores sell donated items such as clothing, kitchen accessories and more.  The store also offers an area for residents to drop off items they wish to donate.

Karen Spitzer of Crofton said she dropped off five bags of clothes for donation and decided to look in the store.

“I found beautiful spring clothes for my daughters. Most of them are like new and some even still have the original price tags on them,” commented Spitzer.

“This is an awesome store!” exclaimed Spritzer, mother of three and six year old girls, as she showed off her new-found Old Navy and Gap Kids treasures.

Although it is currently open, the store's Grand Opening Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 18th at 9:00 a.m.

Manager Rob Rannebreger says they will be having a ribbon cutting ceremony, door prizes and will be giving away a large flat screen TV to celebrate the event. “We are so excited to be in Crofton. This is a wonderful community. Plus, it is a great location for the store. It is large and easy for the community to visit us,” says Rannebreger.

“The Crofton area has been very generous with donations. Not only have many citizens donated but the quality of the items is very, very high. Although any and all contributions are greatly appreciated, our customers are looking for quality goods,” remarks Rannebreger, who was hired to open the Crofton store.

Joyce Obear, CPA and owner of Obear Tax Accounting in Crofton, says donations to qualified charities are tax deductible for all taxpayers who itemize deductions on their tax return. “In these tough economic times, every dollar counts. If you are a Maryland resident, your tax rate is 7-8 percent.

Obear also reminds you that to deduct any charitable donation you must have a bank record, credit card statement or a written communication from the charity showing the name of the charity and the date and amount/item of the contribution.

The store accepts donations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

“I can’t wait to come back on Wednesday for the grand opening. I love that it is at 9 a.m. after the school bus leaves, allowing me time to shop alone!” said Spitzer.
