Girl Power

Women out perform men.

I was just reading an article in Muscle&Fitness Hers magazine the other day and I thought this was interesting so I am gonna share some of this article with you.

So maybe your hubby or boyfriend can bench press more total weight than you but what we women lack in strength we make up for in recovery. Researchers found that "girl power" rules!    Ok so they took men and women and had them perform 3 sets of bench press followed by varying rest intervals (3 min, 2 min, 1 min) and then compared the amount of reps perform in each set. (the study had individual perform 3 sets of bench press using their 10 rep max to get a baseline) They found that the women were able to complete more reps in each set and to top it off during the last set which had only 1 min rest, the ladies were able to push out 5 more total reps than men.

So while men maybe able to build more muscle with longer rest periods, us ladies can get away with shorter rest intervals between sets.
