Council Looks to Establish Drag Racing Hours

The bill would outlaw racing after 11 p.m. The Capitol Raceway in Crofton would likely already be in compliance.

Local members of the Anne Arundel County Council have amended a bill establishing operating hours for drag racing operations, the Capital-Gazette reported.

Council member Jerry Walker (R-7) and Jamie Benoit (D-4) said the bill would outlaw racing after 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Capitol Raceway in Crofton, which is the only drag racing facility in the county, would likely already be in compliance of such rules. But council members noted that there are currently no laws on the books governing operating hours.

The Capital-Gazette said council members were satisfied that the raceway has been a good neighbor, but that some residents have complained about noise.
