Crofton Businesses Offer Unique July Events

Businesses provide customers new ways to try products and learn at the same time

When you think of the month of July you may be picturing long days at the pool and beach.  But if you'd like to try something really different this year, Crofton businesses have some interesting choices to offer.

, located in the Village at Waugh Chapel Shopping Center, is a one-of-a-kind cigar shop and lounge offering a wide variety of fine cigars along with a selection of premium ports and sipping spirits. The lounge is one of only two places in Maryland where you can purchase a cigar and an alcoholic beverage.

Once a month the store has vendor representatives come in for an evening event. On Sunday, July 3rd Centenario Rum will be paired with Don Peppin Cigars. “Vendors are available to answer questions and promote new products. They also usually give out gifts or make specials available,” said owner Jim Golator.

Jason Matthews of Bowie says these events are one of the best parts about working at the store. “This is a rare opportunity to try something new, to experience different tastes that you might not have thought about combining. It is also a great way to learn how to pair cigars and liquors,” says the long time employee Matthews. He goes on to say that the monthly events usually draw a large crowd. “Everyone has a good time. The lounge area and outdoor seating provide a great way to socialize with people with like interests as you,” said Matthews.

Another unique event also happening in the Village Green takes place on Wednesday, July 6. Your Body Needs will hold an Introduction to Aromatherapy workshop. The workshop will be held in the studio from 7 to 9 p.m. Aromatherapy requires the use of a specific source called essential oils. Owner, Rose Chard, has been incorporating essential oils in her life for more than twenty years.

“I experience the tremendous benefits aromatherapy has on me, my family and my clients every day. You can choose your oils based on the therapeutic properties,” says Chard, who is also the Director for the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy. She goes on to say that this is a great opportunity for people to better understand the everyday benefits of aromatherapy through education and being interactive. “It is important to call or go on-line to purchase a ticket due to limited space and popularity of the events. Tickets are $15 each,” said Chard who can be contacted through www.Yourbodyneeds.com
