Firehouse Subs Donates Lifesaving Device to Local Firefighters

The Arundel Volunteer Fire Company got a new automated chest compression system from Firehouse Subs' non-profit foundation.

The Arundel Volunteer Fire Department recently got a new chest compression system thanks to a donation from Firehouse Subs in Gambrills.

The restaurant directed funds from its foundation to donate $14,900 in equipment. The lifesaving system is designed to help paramedics by automating chest compressions, freeing emergency workers to attend to a patients' other medical needs.

Firehouse Subs owner Justin Stephens and other company officials demonstrated the device at an event Friday at the restaurant at the Village at Waugh Chapel.

Firehouse Subs has nearly 700 restaurants nationwide and has collected donations for its non-profit Public Safety Foundation since 2005. Nationwide, the company has donated more than $7.7 million to first-responders.
