Gambrills Center to Offer Rehab, Skilled Nursing
Waugh Chapel Center will have 110 beds, including 54 for those recovering from surgery or illness.
Genesis HealthCare offered a glimpse Tuesday of its new 74,000 square-foot facility on Waugh Chapel Road, and said the center is scheduled to open this fall.
The Waugh Chapel Center will essentially be two facilities in one, with 110 total beds. The center will serve those in need of long term care and will also have a transitional care unit for those recovering from illness or injury.
The center will replace the Knollwood Center in Millersville, and all residents and staff will move into the new facility.
Genesis officials said Waugh Chapel Center will have double the capacity and staff of Knollwood.
The short-term rehab unit is expected to offer a close-by option for local residents recovering from injuries, surgery or illness. Currently, the closest Genesis facility offering those services is Spa Creek Center in Annapolis.
