Patch got a sneak preview of the new store. Here's what you can expect when it opens Sunday.

Workers at Wegmans are putting the finishing touches on the new Gambrills store, in anticipation of the Grand Opening on Sunday.

Doors will open at 7 a.m., and company officials said there could be thousands lined up to enter before the doors open. (At the store in Columbia, some Wegmans enthusiasts camped out overnight in sleeping bags, a company spokesman said.)

The store will have 29 checkout lanes. All of them will be manned on Sunday, except for the four self-checkout stations.

There are many sections and departments to the store, but it's easiest to think of the store in three sections. When you walk through the main entrance, you'll see produce straight ahead. To the right is a traditional-style grocery store. To the left is the Market Cafe where you can buy hot meals and eat them right in the store.

Wegmans is 125,000 square feet in size and will employ 500 people. Though it will open at 7 a.m. Sunday, its usual hours will be 6 a.m. to midnight.

Check out the photo gallery above, and check back Sunday for our coverage of the Grand Opening.

will they be selling any alcohol?
My Opinion October 31, 2012 at 11:12 AM
Anne Arundel County's Liquor Board prohibits alcohol from being sold anywhere but in Liquor stores...sorry but that is how they protect those businesses.....and perhaps it cuts down on drinking since it isn't as easy to buy here got to go to liquor store.....
