Target Opens at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at the new store.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the new Target store at on on Tuesday. The event was kicked off by Crofton Town Manager Larry Schweinsburg and Jean Caufriez, Target Store Team Leader.

After the ceremony that was held Tuesday, Target team members and their families had the first opportunity to shop in the new store. The store is having what's called a "soft opening" this week as employees continue to get the store ready for the grand opening celebration on Sunday.

Customer traffic in the store was light on Thursday, but plenty of employees were on hand to help.

The new store features an expanded grocery selection—including fresh produce, meats and bakery items—along with a pharmacy, Target Café, Starbucks and Pizza Hut Express.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and the store is located at 2384 Brandermill Blvd. in Gambrills.

The Target is part of a larger shopping development that will feature a Wegmans, Dick's Sporting Goods, Greene Turtle, movie theater and other stores set to open later this year.
