Titan Cigar Shoppe is a One-of-a-Kind Shopping Experience

The Waugh Chapel store is offers special monthly events and a promotion for Small Business Saturday.

located in the Village at Waugh Chapel Shopping Center, is a one-of-a-kind cigar shop and lounge offering a wide variety of fine cigars along with a selection of premium ports and sipping spirits.

The lounge is one of only two places in Maryland where you can purchase a cigar and an alcoholic beverage. It's also a locally-owned, small business—the type of place that depends on support from local residents.

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday, a promotion by American Express to encourage people to shop at locally-owned stores. In honor of the occassion, this Saturday business owner Jim Golator says local residents will be given a 10 percent discount.

“This is a great opportunity for purchase gifts for the upcoming holiday season,” he said.

In addition to the regular sales, once a month the store has vendor representatives come in for an evening event. On Dec. 2, Johnnie Walker Whiskey will be paired with Rocky Patel Cigars. Golator explained that is a unique event, because the cigars are rare.

“There were only 500 boxes of these cigars made. We lucked out and were chosen to receive some. This is truly a limited edition cigar,” he said.

The event will take place from 6-10 p.m.

“Vendors are available to answer questions and promote new products. They also usually give out gifts or make specials available,” Golator said.

Jason Matthews of Bowie says the events are one of the best parts about working at the store.

“This is a rare opportunity to try something new, to experience different tastes that you might not have thought about combining. It is also a great way to learn how to pair cigars and liquors,” Matthews, a longtime employee, said. He added that the monthly events usually draw a large crowd. “Everyone has a good time. The lounge area and outdoor seating provide a great way to socialize with people who share your interests.”
