Wegmans to Donate 100,000 Pounds of Food

More than 10,000 pounds of food will go to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Crownsville. The rest will go to other area food banks.

Wegmans plans to donate more than 10,000 pounds of food to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank, with an additional 90,000 pounds to be distributed throughout the National Capital area. 

The supermarket chain will make the donations on June 6 as part of the United Way's Do More 24 campaign. 

The county food bank in Crownsville will receive 10,704 pounds—a half truckload—from Wegmans at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Four other food banks in Maryland and four in Virginia will receive similar donations throughout the day. Store employees will help load and unload the trucks.
