HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care Hires Dr. Anthony Doran as Program Director


HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care Center, a program of Maryland based Righttime Medical Care, has hired Anthony Doran, PsyD. as Program Director to oversee their clinical operations and clinical initiatives. Dr. Doran will be providing leadership and direction to a team of more than 25 educators, proctors and medical providers. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, Dr. Doran also evaluates patients with head injuries at the eight regional HeadFirst clinic locations. In 2013, HeadFirst offered free concussion baseline tests to more than 1,000 athletes and cared for thousands of patients with mTBI (mild Traumatic Brain Injury).

 

Dr. Doran brings more than 20 years of experience in psychological assessment. He completed post-doctoral training in pediatric neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School and received a doctorate of psychology from the University of Hartford. Dr. Doran's past research projects have included studies evaluating severe stress in Special Forces personnel, as well as studies of Department of Defense and Navy suicide prevention efforts.

Dr. Doran has taught psychology classes at the United States Naval Academy and John Hopkins University and was the psychological consultant for the Academy's Leadership, Ethics, and Law department, which trains more than 4,000 midshipmen each year. Dr. Doran has also served as a subject matter expert and consultant for Military and Law Enforcement Commanders selecting Special Forces personnel at a variety of sites throughout the country.

HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care was founded by Dr. Robert G. Graw, Jr., M.D., also chief executive officer of Righttime Medical Care, to provide post-injury medical evaluations for patients of all ages, including steps for a safe return to play, work or school, as well as neurocognitive baseline testing for sports teams and individuals. The HeadFirst medical team also offers support to athletic trainers and coaches and a community concussion awareness program. Righttime Medical Care operates ten urgent care centers located in Anne Arundel, Frederick, Howard and Montgomery counties.
