Nominate a Crofton 'Storm Superstar'

County Executive John R. Leopold is accepting nominations from county residents who know of people who helped their neighbors during or after the storm.

Do you know of someone from Crofton or Gambrills who helped a neighbor in need during or in the aftermath of Friday's storm? If so, nominate him or her for the county's "Storm Superstar" award.

Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold is seeking nominations of residents who helped their neighbors during Friday's storm that caused widespread power outages and property damage, according to a press release.

“Natural disasters and other dangerous weather events really bring out the best of us when communities come together to help those most vulnerable,” Leopold said in the release. “We want to recognize the efforts of those who brought neighbors into their homes to get them out of the heat, ran an errand for an elderly person or helped people out of situations caused by downed trees and power lines.”

If you would like to nominate a Storm Superstar, send an email with the person’s name and address and a short description of his or her contribution, to jleopold@aacounty.org. Copy Crofton Patch on the email at crofton@patch.com and I will consider publishing the storm story.

If you'd just like to generally thank people, a business or group for their actions during or after the storm, please leave a comment.
