Q: Why did you become a Crofton Patch beat contributor?

A: Previously I worked for Suburban Scene Magazine and after the owner, Laura Tayman, sold the magazine she became the Broadneck Patch Editor. She recommended that I look into Crofton Patch.

Q: What is your beat about?
A: I have two beat articles a week. One is for Business and Economic Development for the Crofton Patch. The second is Fire Fighter Heroes for the Crofton and Edgewater Patch.
Q: How does your beat help people in Crofton and Gambrills?
A: I enjoy helping small businesses grow and thrive in our community. My beat articles give them and the community a way of communicating and advertising besides signs on the side of the road.
My Fire Fighter Heroes beat is a wonderful addition because so few people know about the events and happenings at the local volunteer fire departments. Many new people to the community don’t even know we have a volunteer fire department servicing Crofton.
Q: Do you think Crofton Patch is too "mommy centric?"
A: Absolutely not! Crofton Patch is family oriented but so is Crofton! The wide appeal to Patch is its focus on local interest.
Q: Where are your favorite places around Crofton and Gambrills?
A: Oh, there are so many to name! It is a great place to live, socialize, shop and volunteer.
Q: What's your professional background?
A: I attended the University of Maryland where I received my Bachelor's degree in business. I became interest in the Arundel volunteer Fire Department when I moved to Crofton in 1995. I have held a number of positions with Arundel Volunteer Fire Department, including 5 terms as President, the position that I currently hold.
Q: What's the best advice you can give to someone new to Crofton and Gambrills?
A: Volunteer! Join the local PTA, church, and fire department. Many organizations are always looking for volunteers. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and future friends.
