The Road to Building a New MACC
Mid-Atlantic Community Church is on a mission to build a permanent facility for worship.
The Mid-Atlantic Community Church, also known as “The MACC,” is a non-denominational church that meets Sundays at Crofton Middle School at 9:15 and 11 a.m.
The MACC organized and met for the first time Easter Sunday 2004 at Crofton Elementary School.
“Our long term goal is for this to be an area that is open for the community and to give youth a place to gather,” said Pastor Lew Schrumm.

The church has raised enough money to purchase 42 acres of land on Rt. 424, just past Bell Branch Park, and to do the necessary site work to proceed with construction.
Site work is being done to allow for the future construction of a large multipurpose building that will serve as the worship area, gym and community recreation area.

The plan is for a commercial kitchen to be connected, which would allow for social events and wedding events in the long-term.
Outside, work is planned for numerous athletic fields, a playground, and a volleyball area.
The unique worship style of this church attracted a large group of faithful supporters, causing them to quickly outgrow their space. They currently worship at the middle school until their permanent facility is complete.
Every Sunday at 7a.m. a team of people come and transform the middle school into a worship area. The hallways are covered with photos of MACC attendees and the cafeteria is transformed into a place of worship.
Sunday School is offered in the various school classrooms to children through 5th grade. The youth also have a time to meet separately at the early service.
"All of the children meet in one central room for worship time, then divide up into small groups to dive deeper into the weeks lesson,” said Children’s Ministry Team Leader Tammy Taschenberger. “We generally have over 140 kids join us per week," she added.
The MACC has a computerized check-in system for the children intended to ensure safety and accountability.
The MACC offers a very modern worship style, complimented by a live band and videos. Those who come enjoy coffee and donuts prior to the service as a time to socialize and enjoy fellowship. The service offers a real-life message, a lot of singing, and a warm feeling of family.
The MACC will hold a fundraiser this fall to secure funds to move forward with the next phase of the project. For further information on the MACC, visit www.themacc.org.
