Town Hall Officials Offer Hurricane Advice

A message from Crofton Town Hall officials on preparing for Hurricane Irene this weekend.

From Crofton Town Hall email listserv:

No one seems to know what path Hurricane Irene will take, but if it should come close to our area, it might be good to have this information, most of which comes from the National Hurricane Center and the Annapolis Capital.

*If you depend on a pump for your water supply (not likely), store a gallon of water for each person per day, with at least a 3-day supply. Have a supply of paper plates and plastic utensils.

*Have plenty of non-perishable packaged or canned food. Also, have a manual can opener available.

*Have a camp stove with adequate fuel. If you have a barbecue grill, have an adequate supply of charcoal or propane.

*Have an adequate supply of prescription medications and a first aid kit.

*Have an adequate supply of paper towels and toilet tissue.

*Have a number of flashlights and batteries, as well as a battery-powered radio.

*Fill up your vehicle’s gas tank. Have some cash on hand in case ATM’s are down.

*More information is available at www.nhc.noaa.gov.

Chances are that our area will not get a direct blow from the hurricane. However, even if we do not, we could still experience power outages. It is better to be prepared!
