Weekend Planner: Nov. 11-13

Are you looking for something to do with the family this weekend? We have a couple ideas for book lovers and energetic little ones. Check it out!

What:

When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday at Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill, 1166 State Route 3 S, Gambrills.

Why Go: Authors, booksellers and publishers will be on site. Shoppers will also have a chance to win an E-Reader and door prizes. A free Children's Festival and Antique Car Display will also be held in the parking lot.

What:

When/Where: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Anne Arundel Community College, Humanities Building Room 112, 101 College Parkway, Arnold

Why Go: Honor Veterans Day thorough poetry with AACC alumnus Cliff Lynn, who has co-hosted monthly poetry readings in Annapolis since 2005 and has published more than 40 poems and stories.

Cost: Free

 

What: Marley Middle School Craft and Vendor Fair

When/Where: 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Marley Middle School, 10 Davis Court, Glen Burnie

Why Go: Support the Parent Teacher Student Association and get unique items from a variety of local vendors.

Cost: Free

 

What: Theater in Severn

When/Where: Archbishop Spalding High School, 8080 New Cut Road AND Annapolis Area Christian School - Upper School Campus, 109 Burns Crossing Road

Why Go: The local private schools are hosting two famous shows. Spalding is performing Shakespeare's classic, “Romeo and Juliet,” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. AACS is performing "The Diary of Ann Frank" at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Cost: $10 for “Romeo and Juliet.” $12 for “Diary of Anne Frank.”

 

What: “Fiddler on the Roof”

When/Where: 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Severna Park High School, 60 Robinson Road.

Why Go: SPHS will feature "Fiddler on the Roof" as its fall musical for one weekend only.

Cost: $8

 

What: Craft Beer Tasting

When/Where: 5-8 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 226, Mayo

Why Go: The Heavy Seas Beer Company out of Halethorpe (MD), is coming to Edgewater to host a "Craft Beer Tasting. Sample nine seasonal beers. In addition there will be door prizes, raffles, music and an opportunity to talk to American Legion representatives about getting involved with the community.

Cost: $20 for nine samples, additional samples cost $1 per beer, or $5 for 5 beers.

 

What: National Gaming Day at the Mountain Road Library

When/Where: 1 p.m., Friday, Mountain Road Library

Why Go: Board games, Wii and plenty of ways to keep the kids occupied. Why not stop by and have some fun?

Cost: Free

 

What: “Fat Pig” performance at Prince George's Community College

When/Where: 7:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday, at Queen Anne Fine Arts, Hallam Theatre, 301 Largo Road, Upper Marlboro.

Why Go: If the title isn't cool enough, the stage play goes even deeper, as it addresses society's traditional view of beauty.

Cost: $10

 

What: The Run for Sarah: Stand Up to Cancer—5K Run/1 Mile Walk

When/Where: 7:30 a.m. registration, 8 a.m. race time, Sunday at St. Anne's School of Annapolis, 3112 Arundel on the Bay Road, Annapolis.

Why Go: Get out, meet your neighbors and a little exercise while helping the students raise money to help a former classmate suffering from a rare form of leukemia.

Cost: $12

 

What: “PIPPIN” at Bowie Playhouse 

When/Where: 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays at Bowie Playhouse in Whitemarsh Park

Why Go: A stellar cast, Fosse-style choreography, musical direction and an orchestra.

Cost: $20 General, $17 Seniors/FT Students
