Hymes Raises $20K in District 4 Race

The environmentalist and small business owner from Crownsville is competing with Andrew Pruski for campaign dollars and votes.

Scott Hymes of Crownsville has raised nearly $20K in in his bid for the District 4 seat on the Anne Arundel County Council, according to new campaign finance documents.

The Democrat from Crownsville collected $19,935 in contributions and has $9,646.62 on hand.

Fellow Democrat Andrew Pruski has raised more than $24,000 in his campaign, but entered the race before Hymes.

"I'm very pleased that in only 2 1/2 months I have kept pace with Andrew who has been raising money for so much longer then me and happy with my current cash on hand considering my investment already in my campaign material," Hymes said in an email to Patch. "I have no doubt I will raise more than everyone so I will be able reach the voters of District 4 and win the race."

Most of Hymes' cash has come from individual donors, who have contributed amounts ranging from $50 to $2,500 each. Hymes also got $500 from the Fraternal Order of Police.

Hymes has spent more than Pruski, with about $5,900 expended on advertising in books and brochures.

Hymes is an active environmentalist and owns a music and talent agency.
