Ashley Forrest to Perform at Benefit for Injured State Trooper

The Crofton native will sing the Star Spangled Banner on Nov. 10 at a 5K race in Skyesville. The event will support the recovery of Trooper Jacqueline Kline.

Crofton native and recording artist Ashley Forrest is scheduled to perform the Star Spangled Banner on Nov. 10 as part of a benefit for a state trooper injured in the line of duty.

Forrest will sing at the 5K for JK event at the Maryland State Police Academy in Skyesville. The event will support the recovery of Trooper Jacqueline "Jackie" Kline, who was seriously injured when she was struck by a car while assisting another trooper during a traffic stop on Oct. 6.

Kline remains hospitalized at Sinai Hospital.  According to a Facebook page created for the 5k race, she is undergoing therapy and her condition has been improving slowly.

"Jackie, is doing unbelievably well. She has come leaps and bounds since moving into rehab," the post said.

Forrest is expected to sing at about 9:45 a.m., just before the start of the 5k race.
