Jessie Travlos had a skill for sewing as a young girl.

Jessie Travlos, 98. Gambrills resident, born in South Africa. Volunteered as a nurse to help soldiers during WWII. Sewed sequins onto shoes worn by Queen Elizabeth. Died Jan. 1. (From The Capital)

Regina Freit, 94. Crofton resident, had eight great grandchildren. Died Jan. 9. (From The Capital)

Thomas Knighten, 85. Crofton resident, Marine Corps veteran. Died Dec. 29. (From The Capital)

James McManus, 94. Crofton resident, former Army major and WWII veteran. Avid golfer. Survived by his wife and two sisters. (From The Capital)
