Motorists that are westbound on Rt 450 approaching Rt 3 with a green light know that they will have a very long wait (~3-minutes) if they have to stop for a light change. This causes impatient drivers to speed-up rather than slow-down when approaching the intersection.

Where are the police on Rt. 3? The road is a war zone. I've seen several people weaving in and out of traffic because they are texting. Why don't the police ticket people for not using their directional signals? I have a small child-- it is scary when people cross in front of me without warning. I wish the police would do something to make our roads safer.

Another news site says "a pickup truck made a left turn onto Route 450 and struck another pickup traveling northbound on Route 3." But the same thing applies... that is a REALLY long light at that left turn arrow.... I guess it is preferable to risk one's life and that of others to save 4--5 minutes at a light. *sheesh*

There seem to be alot of seriou accidents between 450 on rt 301and the wawa. And with that new shopping center many more accidents will happen

You're right, Barb. People drive Rt 3 as if it were a high-speed interstate. It is a suburban highway with too many traffic lights, too close together (especially up by Waugh Chapel... there isn't enough distance between the lights to allow proper reaction time at the speed limit, let alone 10 over), The speed limit is generally between 45--50 between the Wawa in Gambrills and Rt 50 in Bowie, yet drivers typically go 60--65. I actually left a job in Bowie after only 4 months because the drivers were completely out of control on Rt 3 and I had or saw near-misses every single day. My nerves could not handle it. Please please slow down, stop tailgating, and use courtesy and CAUTION on this over-taxed stretch of road. The life you save may be your own.
