Crofton Fire Victim Dies From Injuries

Patricia Hart, 52, was pulled from a burning house on Tuesday. Fire officials said they will canvass the neighborhood this weekend to check for working smoke detectors

A woman who was pulled from a burning home in Crofton earlier this week has died from her injuries.

A fire department spokesman said Patrica Hart, 52, died at a hospital Wednesday, about a day after firefighters rescued her from the second story of a townhouse on Foxdale Court.

Division Chief Keith Swindle of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said it was the third fire-related fatality in the county this year.

The fire caused about $60,000 in damage to the end-unit townhouse, Swindle said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Swindle said firefighters determined that there were no working smoke detectors in the home. He said firefighters plan to canvass the neighborhood this Saturday to perform smoke detector checks.
