Gambrills Woman, 23, Killed in Davidsonville Road Crash

Police said speed and alcohol were likely factors in the Crofton crash.

A 23-year-old Crofton woman was killed July 17 when the car she was driving struck a tree along Davidsonville Road in Crofton, police said.

According to a release, Megan Carlyn Pfisterer, 23, of Gambrills was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Justin Aaron Lee, 27, of Crofton was taken to Shock Trauma and is in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.

Crews responded at 1:34 a.m. to the area of Davidsonville Road and Duke of Kent Drive in Crofton. Police said officers located a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier off the roadway on the north side of Davidsonville Road, just east of Duke of Kent.

An initial investigation revealed that the Chevrolet was traveling westbound on Davidsonville Road, approaching Duke of Kent Drive, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said. The car began to rotate, struck a curb and then crashed into a tree. The driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle, according to a release. 

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed, alcohol and lack of occupant protection are possible factors in this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is continuing an investigation.
