Man Arrested on Assault, Parole Violation

Richard Horton, who had served time for a 2007 assault in Crofton, is accused of striking his girlfriend this past July.

A man who served time for an assault in Crofton in 2007 has been arrested again and charged with violating his parole. 

The Prince George County Sheriff's office reported the arrest of Richard Horton at an address on the 16000 block of Sylvan Drive in Bowie. He was wanted in connection to an assault on his girlfriend in July. 

Horton had previously been convicted of first-degree assault after police said he slashed another person across the face during an altercation at a Crofton sports bar in 2007. Horton was recently released on parole. 

In the incident this past July, police said Horton kicked his girlfriend in the head and then fled. He was arrested Tuesday on warrants obtained by the Queen Anne's County Sheriff Department. 

Horton could face up to six years in jail if he is convicted of the parole violation.
