'National Night Out' Set for August 6

Crofton and Fort Meade will each host events to promote police partnerships and community involvement.

The communities of Crofton and Fort Meade will each take a stand against crime next week as they take part in the "National Night Out."

On August 6, the communities will have a series of outdoor events including block parties, demonstrations from police and fire officials, and activities for the kids. 

In Crofton, the event gets started at 5 p.m. at the Crofton Library on Riedel Road. 

The events at Fort Meade will include a neighborhood parade at 5 p.m. followed by events from 6-9 p.m. at the MacLachlan Parade Field. Scheduled events include a landing from an Anne Arundel County Police helicopter and a K-9 demonstration. There will also be a children's ID station and a moon bounce for kids. 

The purpose of National Night Out is to promote involvement in crime prevention activities and partnerships with police groups.
