Neuman Nearing End of Police Chief Search

Anne Arundel County's next police chief will likely come from within the state of Maryland.

County Executive Laura Neuman told The Baltimore Sun she has narrowed the search down to two in-state candidates. Neuman told the paper a permanent chief could be named within the next month.

Neuman told the Sun she is seeking a chief with "integrity, references, recommendations and a style of being part of the culture that we are trying to create in the county — that we are very results-oriented."

She told the paper, however, that if neither finalist is the "perfect candidate," the search will continue.

Maj. Pamela Davis has served as acting police chief since the resignation of former chief Larry W. Tolliver in May. Davis also served as acting chief after former chief James Teare Sr., resigned in August.
