Police, Board President to Discuss School Safety

Andrew Pruski will speak at the next meeting of the Western District Police-Community Relations Council.

Police and school officials will talk with the community about safety in the classroom next week.

Anne Arundel County School Board President Andrew Pruski, a Gambrills resident, will be the guest speaker at the April 10 meeting of the Western District Police-Community Relations Council. 

The meeting comes following several incidents involving school safety, including one Tuesday in which a student allegedly brought a loaded gun to Glen Burnie High School.

A representative of the police department's school safety program will also be in attendance. 

"With the ongoing discussion of how to insure that our schools are protected against the kinds of targeted attacks that have occurred in other parts of the country, this is a vital subject, and we encourage community representatives and parents to attend this session," said Dave Daughters, president of the Council.

The meeting will take place on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Western District police headquarters, 8273 Telegraph Rd., Odenton.
