Police: Copper Wire Thieves Lead Cops on Chase

Police arrested two of four men spotted leaving the scene of a copper wire burglary.

CROFTON—After leading police on a chase, two men were charged with the theft of more than $5,000 in copper wiring taken from a construction trailer in Crofton, police said.

Isaias Jonathan Biera-Sanchez, 23, of Alexandria, VA; and Carlos Baudilio Barrientos-Mejia, 29, of Oxon Hill, were charged with second-degree burglary and theft of more than $1,000.

The two men are among four that ran from Crofton and Anne Arundel police after they were spotted leaving the scene of the burglary on Davidsonville Road, police said in a report. The remaining two men were able to evade authorities.

Police later found approximately $5,000 worth of copper wiring in a suspect's vehicle, later determining it had been stolen from a construction site in the 1400 block of Duke of Kent Drive.
