Police: Crofton Man Had $4,400 in Drugs, Stolen Gun

Anne Arundel County police executed a search warrant following an investigation into drug distribution at an apartment on Airy Hill Court.

A Crofton man is in police custody after officers said they found more than $4,000 worth of drugs and a stolen handgun in his apartment Thursday night. 

Anne Arundel County police said they executed a search warrant at the home of Michael A. Shephard, 35, and found 370 grams of suspected marijuana worth about $3,700 and 7.9 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $711. They also said they found two handguns—one stolen—with some ammunition. 

Police said they executed the warrant in the 1600 block of Airy Hill Court after investigating reports that Shephard was allegedly involved in illegal drug distribution. They said detectives performed surveillance operations and arrested Shephard based on their observations, complaints from the community and other evidence.

Shephard was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and several handgun offenses.
